SHE Compliance Manager

Accountabilities
Act as an active leader within the SHE Team contributing to ensuring the overall delivery of SHE compliance matters.
Establish and maintain an active compliance registry and license to operate including documentation of necessary permitting, licenses and other regulatory requirements.
Ensure site complies with local, state, federal and company regulations and standards; Thorough understanding of site’s compliance calendar and regulatory reporting requirements.
Update and maintain SHE legislation system to ensure timely and accurate compliance with local, state, federal and company regulations.
Develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures and guidelines associated with federal, state, local and company requirements in alignment with regulatory changes.
Design and manage SHE training matrix, materials and reporting to develop and implement robust modules with in-person, online and ad-hoc capabilities.
Develop long-term SHE programs to accommodate business growth and change according to AstraZeneca Global Retention and Disposal (GRAD) standards.
Lead cross-functional teams to assess and address SHE compliance matters.
Develop and maintain key relationships with all site personnel, suppliers and customers.
Serve as the primary liaison between the site and regulatory authorities, effectively leading site inspections, compliance walkthroughs, and other interactions to ensure adherence to legal and industry standards.
Maintain robust AstraZeneca SHE Assurance program by driving internal audits and inspections including associated documentation and reporting.
Collaborate with SHE leadership to effectively track, trend and report all SHE KPIs and metrics, ensuring timely completion and communication to site leadership.
Develop risk management strategies and mitigate potential compliance issues and conduct regular risk assessments to identify possible compliance risks.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, health, and environmental practices.
Partner with Business Continuity and Resilience experts to monitor local business continuity plans.
Foster a culture of safety and sustainability across the site.
Essential Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (or equivalent) qualified health and safety professional, or degree in a science, engineering, sustainability or manufacturing discipline.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
ASP or similar early career professional certification preferred.
Preferred work experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment and in developing safe working processes.
Excellent communication skills and be comfortable supporting stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work independently and cascade appropriate knowledge to key stakeholders.
Strong time management and organizational skills and able to meet deadlines.
Ability to gather data, analyze data, determine options with pros/cons, and recommend path forward.
Maintains open communication with team members and confidently engages with personnel at all organizational levels.
Demonstrates ability to approach business problems with logic versus emotion. Can effectively break down problems into smaller parts and is resourceful in identifying what is needed to address the problem. Able to draft recommendations in collaboration with key stakeholders.
